Banda Aceh News | BANDA ACEH — The Aceh Provincial Government has issued an urgent warning to residents across the region to remain vigilant against potential extreme weather events forecast from November 6 to November 12, 2026. The public safety advisory follows the latest atmospheric dynamics report from the Sultan Iskandar Muda Class I Meteorology Station (BMKG) in Banda Aceh.

Aceh Government Spokesperson Nurlis Effendi reported that atmospheric conditions are heavily driving increased rainfall across multiple districts. The active presence of Equatorial Kelvin and Rossby waves, coupled with wind shear and convergence zones, is aggressively fostering rain cloud development throughout the province.

“Sea surface temperatures currently range between 29 and 31 degrees Celsius with atmospheric humidity levels peaking at 70 to 100 percent. These conditions significantly inject water vapor into the atmosphere, rapidly amplifying rain cloud formation across Aceh,” Nurlis stated in Banda Aceh on Sunday, November 8, 2026.

Regencies Facing Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms

Nurlis detailed specific areas projected to experience heavy to severe rainfall accompanied by lightning and strong winds. The high-risk regions include West Aceh, Southwest Aceh, Aceh Besar, Aceh Jaya, Pidie, Nagan Raya, Southeast Aceh, Gayo Lues, Central Aceh, North Aceh, East Aceh, and Bener Meriah.

Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rainfall paired with thunderstorms and high winds is forecasted to impact South Aceh, Aceh Singkil, Aceh Tamiang, Bireuen, Langsa, Lhokseumawe, Pidie Jaya, Subulussalam, and Simeulue Island.

Hydrometeorological Disaster Warnings

Authorities have urged the public to take proactive precautions against potential hydrometeorological hazards tailored to the vulnerability of their respective regions. Threat vectors include flash floods, riverine flooding, landslides, and uprooted trees caused by gale-force winds.

“Residents must remain calm yet highly alert. Take anticipatory measures so that daily activities can proceed safely,” Nurlis emphasized.

The provincial administration advised citizens to continuously monitor official weather updates via BMKG communication channels, including the official social media account @infobmkg_aceh, while cautioning the public against unverified climate rumors circulating on unofficial platforms.
