Banda Aceh News | BANDA ACEH — Abundant natural resource reserves do not automatically guarantee community prosperity without professional management, human capital enhancement, strategic investment, and cross-sector collaboration. This critical takeaway was highlighted by Mawardi Nur, Chairman of the Central Board of the Madrasah Ulumul Qur’an Alumni and Ex-Students Organization (PB Oralexismuq), during the Economic, Energy and Sustainability Forum 2026 held at the BSI Aceh Landmark Hall in Banda Aceh.
Mawardi, who also serves as the Head of the Aceh Oil and Gas Management Agency (BPMA), emphasized under the forum theme “From Resources to Prosperity” that raw natural wealth must be paired with meticulous planning and bold multi-sectoral partnerships to generate sustainable value for the regional economy.
“Managing natural resources requires far more than relying on the sheer scale of reserves or potential. It demands deep technical knowledge, mature planning, professional governance, and the courage to build strategic collaborations so that natural wealth creates tangible added value,” Mawardi asserted.
Multi-Sectoral Dialogue on Energy and Sustainability
The strategic forum brought together prominent policy makers, industry leaders, and academic experts. Key panelists alongside Mawardi Nur included Firdaus Noezula from PT Pema Global Energi, Prof. Dr. Hafas Furqani from UIN Ar-Raniry, and Muhammad Rizky representing Commission III of the Aceh Regional House of Representatives (DPRA).
Discussions spanned critical regional issues, focusing on sustainable resource management, investment expansion, energy security, Islamic economics, and long-term environmental sustainability models tailored for Aceh’s development path.
Organized as a highlight of the 9th General Assembly (Mubes IX) of PB Oralexismuq, the event served as a major convergence point for academia, energy industry practitioners, and government officials to chart actionable economic strategies.
Mobilizing Dayah Alumni for Regional Growth
Mawardi underscored the vital role of traditional Islamic boarding school (dayah) scholars and alumni in addressing modern socio-economic challenges, urging them to actively participate in high-stakes sectors such as energy management and economic policy.
Representing a network spanning 40 graduating classes of Madrasah Ulumul Qur’an, PB Oralexismuq aims to translate academic and religious knowledge into practical social impact under their guiding principle: “From Knowledge to Impact: Learned, United, Beneficial.”
Organizers expressed optimism that the concrete ideas and collaborative frameworks established during the forum will ensure Aceh’s natural resources yield direct economic benefits for the local population rather than remaining mere wealth on paper.
