Banda Aceh News | KUTACANE, ACEH — Officers from the Southeast Aceh Police have successfully thwarted a major narcotics smuggling operation, seizing 11.20 kilograms of high-grade marijuana destined for North Sumatra. Two local suspects, identified by their initials S (31) of Pulonas Village and DP (31) of Suka Makmur Village, were taken into custody during the targeted interception.

The arrest unfolded on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at approximately 8:00 PM WIB near the Simpang Kuta Tinggi intersection in Badar District, Southeast Aceh.

“From our initial inspection, officers recovered ten taped packages of marijuana weighing a net total of 11.20 kilograms. The illicit cargo was hidden inside a white jute sack wrapped with plastic layers inside the suspects’ vehicle,” Narcotics Unit Head (Kasat Narkoba) Iptu Hengki Harianto disclosed during an official briefing on Sunday, November 8, 2026.

Intelligence-Led Interception on the Kutacane Highway

According to police reports, the operation was launched following a reliable tip-off regarding two individuals transporting contraband in a white Daihatsu Terios traveling from Leuser Village in Ketambe District toward downtown Kutacane.

Acting on the intelligence, joint police personnel tracked the vehicle’s movements before successfully flagging down and securing the car at the Kuta Tinggi junction. During preliminary questioning, both suspects admitted ownership of the narcotics, confessing that the drug shipment was scheduled for delivery across the provincial border into the Toba region of North Sumatra.

Seized Evidence and Ongoing Investigation

Alongside the 11.20 kg marijuana haul, law enforcement officials confiscated the white Daihatsu Terios utility vehicle, two mobile phones used for operational coordination, and the white packaging sacks.

“Both suspects and all physical evidence have been transported to the Southeast Aceh Police Headquarters and handed over to the Narcotics Investigation Unit for comprehensive interrogation and formal legal proceedings,” Hengki stated.

Police reiterated their commitment to dismantling regional drug trafficking rings and urged local communities to remain vigilant, encouraging citizens to report suspicious activities to help keep Southeast Aceh free of narcotics.
