Banda Aceh News | TAPAKTUAN, ACEH — Legal counsel for the detained Village Head (Keuchik) of Gampong Gunong Pulo in South Aceh Regency has called on local law enforcement to hunt down and arrest the village treasurer, who has allegedly absconded following a high-profile corruption probe involving 2023 and 2024 village funds.

Maman Supriyadi, legal representative for suspect SA (45), urged the South Aceh Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) to conduct an objective and comprehensive investigation into all parties involved in the alleged financial mismanagement, emphasizing that his client did not act alone.

The suspect, SA, was formally designated as a criminal suspect on November 2, 2026, under Official Decree No. S.Tap.TSK/66/XI/RES.3.3/2026/Satreskrim, before being arrested and placed in police custody the following day.

“Based on facts uncovered during the interrogation process, it is crystal clear that the resulting state financial losses in this case are inextricably tied to the active role of the village treasurer,” Maman declared in an official statement on Friday, November 6, 2026.

Allegations of a Fleeing Treasurer and Unlawful Enrichment

Maman, who also serves as the Director of the South Aceh Sword of Justice Legal Aid Foundation (YLH-PKAS), claimed that the village treasurer actively facilitated the unauthorized disbursement of public funds and personally profited from the illegal fund flows.

With the treasurer currently on the run, defense attorneys stressed that capturing the official is critical to establishing a complete financial audit trail, given the treasurer’s direct oversight of all municipal disbursements during the 2023–2024 fiscal years.

“Hunting down this fleeing treasurer is crucial so that this corruption case can be exposed in a bright, transparent, and exhaustive manner,” Maman urged. “Law enforcement must not stop at my client. Everyone who participated in or profited from these irregularities must be held legally accountable to avoid any perception of selective prosecution.”

Police Pledge Thorough Prosecution

The investigation was initiated by the Anti-Corruption Unit (Tipidkor) of the South Aceh Police following a formal police report filed on May 11, 2026. Following months of evidence gathering, investigators issued arrest and detention orders on November 3, placing SA into the custody of the South Aceh Police Detention and Evidence Unit (Sat Tahti).

South Aceh Police Crime Unit Head Iptu Bagus Pribadi reaffirmed law enforcement’s commitment to pursuing public sector corruption with strict professionalism, transparency, and accountability.

“This legal action serves as a stern warning and reminder that village fund allocations must be managed transparently, responsibly, and strictly in accordance with statutory regulations to serve the public,” Bagus stated.

Police investigators are currently completing the case dossier before transferring the file to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, while continuing to examine additional witness testimonies and financial records.
